Types of International Business Companies
There are a number of companies that can be formed in Cyprus. Companies limited by shares or by guarantee, private and public companies. Companies are governed by the Companies Law Cap 113.
International Business Companies limited by shares are subdivided into Public and Private International Business Companies:
(a) Public International Business Companies
Any company, registered under Companies Act Cap 113 whose articles of association do not contain the restrictions applicable to private companies as to the number of its members, is a public company. Note that public companies may if they fulfil certain requirements obtain a listing on the Cyprus Stock Exchange.
(b) Private International Business Companies
Under Companies Act, Cap. 113, a private company is a company which in its articles of association prohibits any public subscription to shares or debentures, restricts the right to transfer its shares, limits the number of its members to fifty.
